Rails IDE for Windows 5

I’m happy to say that version 1.0 of RideMe is now available for download.

If you’re developing Rails apps on Windows, you’ll find RideMe to be a bit different than the other IDEs that you might use. Unlike RadRails and Sapphire, it’s not built on top of anything else. It’s 100% .NET code. So it’s lightweight and very fast. It’s only mission in life is to build Rails apps – it’s not trying to be a general purpose Ruby editor. And it’s open source, so it’s of course free, and always will be.

We’re working on some screencasts this week to demo the newer features, but in the meantime download it and give it a whirl.

I LOVE RIDE-ME... but I happen to be on the team ;)

I mentioned this, too when I first heard about it: http://www.jasonsalas.com/2006/07/ruby-on-rails-ide-for-aspnet-devs.html. It's great for MS devs because it emulates the Visual Studio IDE. Unfortunately it requires .NET 2.0 (I opted to stay in the v.1.x world, which was one of the reasons I started doing RoR work), so it can't work with us non-conformists.

But other than that, it's very, very nice.

Homesite 4.5 and above can become a Rails IDE too with this extension. http://www.railssite.com

The things in themselves (and to avoid all misapprehension, it is necessary to explain that this is the case) exclude the possibility of natural causes, by virtue of human reason.

As is shown in the writings of Aristotle, our ideas are the clue to the discovery of, so far as regards the discipline of natural reason, the phenomena.
