DLR, Silverlight, and all that 2
Just thought I'd mention a thread in one of our forums regarding Silverllight and the DLR.
We haven't posted anything about the whole Silverlight/DLR issue because we decided to take a wait-and-see attitude. Now that I've had some time to sort things out, I've chimed in a bit (I'm not real pleased, but hope that it turns out to be better than I think). But what are your thoughts? Frankly, I like the idea of the DLR. The fact that Microsoft is getting into Rails and Ruby lends it some credibility. However based on what I've seen, they seem to be trying to do it "the Microsoft way". It seems like whatever they end up with will be Ruby-esque but not quite there. It's like the way they implement CSS support... a lot of it is there, but it's not quit up to spec.
DLR is groovy. If they can get it to the point where it can pass Rails tests, it can potentially be much faster. It would be awesome to cache IL produced from Rails somewhere... this would give 10 fold speed up I think.
