Thank you for your comments and encouragement. I learned a ton from the Web Developer Makeover workshop. I’m still incorporating the habits of test driven development and restful programming, but overall, ruby on rails has been a smooth transition from C#, VB.net, and PHP.

I’d highly recommend your workshop to Microsoft developers, or any developers for that matter, who are interested in a great quick overview of Ruby on Rails. It’s amazing what you covered in one Saturday. Ryan and I were able to incorporate much of what you taught me into simpleweight. Your workshop definitely helped increase my comfort with rails.

I definitely agree that one has to just do it. Just pick a small goal, and stay dedicated. Whether your goal is to take 30 minutes every day to brainstorm ideas for your application, or take 60 minutes today to draw some Views or Models. It does not matter if whatever you are doing is correct or not. Just the fact that you are doing some work will help you get better, and before you know it, you will have a complete working rails application like simpleweight.com.
