The Art of Rails Book Cover

Several months ago, Edward Benson, the author of The Art of Rails, sent us a copy. We've been a little busy, but I finally got around to finishing it. And I'm glad I did.

This book is one of the few that is written for the intermediate Rails developer. It's definitely not meant for those just getting started with Rails, and is certainly not a Rails reference. It's a cover-to-cover read that discusses stuff like RESTful Web APIs, using advanced features of Ruby to write beautiful Rails code, monkeypatching, and metaprogramming. Edward does a fantastic job of explaining why Rails is what it is, not just how things are done.

If you'd consider yourself a capable Rails developer who wants to raise your game a bit, The Art of Rails is highly recommended.

Nice to hear about a book that aims to push Rails developers to the next level after getting comfortable with the basics. I’ll have to check this one out.

Actually I’ve read five chapters of this book. I can share the opinion. It is really nice having a book for rails which talks about concepts. Especially books for advanced rails are quite rare. You should definetly give it a try!
